Usability Testing
My favorite part of research is working with participants. Usability testing in particular is always exciting: I love facilitating think aloud sessions and catching the curveballs users throw. My training in academic research has also given me an edge in designing experiments, developing protocols, and doing data analysis.
Undergraduate Admissions Website (download study protocol, download report - the university's name has been removed from these materials at their request.)

As part of my internship at the DUC, I led a usability test of a university admissions site. I was personally responsible for developing the study protocol, moderating more than half of the study sessions, and presenting the findings to client stakeholders, including the director of admissions. This test also gave me the opportunity to work with SMI eyetracking hardware and software; I found these quantitative findings supplemented the other findings nicely.

Nokia Mobile Applications Usability Test (download report - usability findings have been removed from the report at Nokia's request.)

With four other classmates, I performed a usability test of a Nokia mobile phone. We were responsible for developing the study protocol, moderating study sessions, and presenting our findings to Nokia stakeholders.
